Thaddeus Holownia is a photographer, letterpress printer, publisher, and educator based in Jolicure, New Brunswick. Born in England in 1949, he immigrated to Canada in 1954 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Fine Arts from the University of Windsor in 1972. Following a distinguished 41-year teaching and administrative career in the Department of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University, he retired in 2018 and now devotes his time to his studio practice.Over the past five decades,

Holownia's work has been exhibited extensively in Canada and internationally, including major solo exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography. His photographs are recognized for their thoughtful exploration of landscape, place, and the relationship between people and the natural environment.

Widely recognized for his contributions to Canadian contemporary photography, Holownia is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, a Fulbright Fellow, and a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

His honours include the Order of New Brunswick, the Lieutenant Governor's Award for High Achievement in the Visual Arts, and Mount Allison University's Paul Paré Medal for excellence in teaching, creative activity, research, and community service.
