The Shorebirds
Carrie Bova · Brian MacDonald · Pauline Furlong · Michelle Taggart
The Shorebirds are a group of artists brought together by a shared love of watercolour, creativity, and painting in community. Led by Carrie Bova, the group gathers to paint on her cottage porch overlooking the water at Tidnish Cove and at Le Chat Bleu. While watercolour connects their practices, each artist brings a distinct background, style, and perspective to their work.
Carrie Bova
Carrie began her watercolour journey when she and her husband, Ron, retired in 2010. Teaching has always been a passion and was Carrie's career, and she became particularly interested in colour theory as it relates to watercolour.Offering beginner watercolour classes became a natural extension of her own artistic practice, and Carrie has taught in Amherst, Tidnish, Florida, and California. Carrie is also Vice President of the Coachella Valley Watercolor Society in California.
Brian MacDonald
Brian is President of the Sackville Art Association and an avid watercolour enthusiast. His work leans toward impressionist and abstract influences, and he draws inspiration from artists including Scott Swinson, Anna Mason, and Lena Gemzøe.
Pauline Furlong
Pauline is a watercolour artist and author. First introduced to art classes as a child, she has enjoyed a lifelong passion for art and exploring different artistic media. She works primarily in watercolour while also enjoying oil, acrylic, and pastel.
